Summer Sailing Camp
Senior Counselors & Junior Counselors
(along with kids who are 14 and 15 years old
who would like to become Counselors in Training "CIT")
Austin Sailboat Rentals is currently looking to hire for its Summer Sailing Camp programs located on both Lake Austin and Lake Travis, two full-time Senior Counselors and two full-time Junior Counselors, along with kids that are looking to become Counselors in Training (CITs).
The Senior Counselors and Junior Counselors will work closely with the owners of Austin Sailboat Rentals to help grow and make their summer sailing camp programs safe and fun! CITs will also work closely with the owners, senior counselors and junior counselors to assist where needed.
There are currently two levels in our sailing camp program: beginner sailors and intermediate sailors. Each level is offered every other week, alternating weeks during the months of June, July and August on both Lake Austin and Lake Travis. So in otherwords, we have camp every week of the month at both locations.
All positions will also work closely with campers between the ages 8 to 16 — teaching them how to sail, perfecting their sailing skills, rigging and unrigging boats, tying nautical knots, and learning how to be safe on the water.
All positions will closely supervise campers during all camp activities, including sailing, kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding, land games, lunch time, chalk-talks, bathroom breaks, and playing boardgames.
All positions will be offered every week, Monday – Friday, during the months of June, July and August (weekends off). CITs will not be permitted to work more than 8 hours in one day, or more than 48 hours in one week. CITs will start at 9:00 am and finish by 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Senior and Junior Counselors will start at 8:30 am and finish by 5:30 pm.
All positions require candidates to be able to lift and/or pull 50 pounds, are kind to and patient with children (even those with special needs, such as ADD and ADHD, or possibly with Functioning Autism), enjoy the outdoors (even when it's 105+ degrees outside), like to be on the water, and be able to swim. A definite plus if you are CPR/AED certified, along with First Aid Training, but not a requirement.
Senior Camp Counselors must be 18 years or older and already know how to sail. Certification is not required.
Junior Camp Counselors must be 16 years or older and be a certified life guard. If a junior camp counselor already knows how to sail … GREAT, if not, no worries, we'll teach you.
CITs must be between the ages of 14 and 15 years old and have already attended one of our sailing camps as a camper.
On the job training will be provided for all positions, along with lunch each day, beverages throughout the day, late afternoon fruit, staff t-shirt, and weekly pay. The positions pay $12.00 an hour for senior camp counselors, $10.00 an hour for the junior camp counselors, and $7.25 for CITs.
All interested candidates must fill out an online application, take a child protective written training course and exam, and will also be subject to a background check (CITs will not be subject to a background check).
Please also feel free to email Jim at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any immediate questions.
Hope to hear from you soon.
