THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW BEFORE YOU GO

Advanced Reservations Required Tours fill up fast, so we do recommend making advanced reservations once you know you want to go.  If it rains, we’ll gladly refund your tour 100% or give you a raincheck (whichever you prefer).  If it’s less than 2 hours before a scheduled tour and you would like to book, please call to check on availability.

Cancellations Our cancellation policy allows a customer to cancel a tour for a full refund up until 7 days prior to their scheduled tour date.  If a customer cancels a booking within 3 to 6 days prior to the reservation they incur a 50% penalty.  Anything less than a 3 day cancellation notice and the booking is considered nonrefundable.  If it rains, we’ll gladly refund your tour 100% or give you a raincheck (whichever you prefer).

Kayaks and Paddles All kayaks are tandems (two people per kayak) and have full length glass bottoms, are illuminated at night, and come with two illuminated paddles, and two life vests.

Weight Limit Per Kayak  All kayaks are tandems (two people per kayak) and have a combined weight limit of 450 lbs. per kayak.   Singles are welcome and will be paired up with other singles going.  If there are no other singles going, or a couple is close to the weight limit, we’ll let those persons go solo (if there is an available boat).

Length of Tours  Tours last about 2 hours, and we ask that you please meet at least 30 minutes before your scheduled tour at the designed location for your particular tour.  Safety overview and kayaking instructions will be provided.

Children  are welcome on the tours.  If a child is small enough (typically 3 and under) to sit in a parents lap, then that parent is welcome to take their child for free, but they do forfeit a paddle, and must hold on the child the entire tour.  The other adult passenger will paddle the kayak for all three passengers (only one child per kayak is permitted).  If a child is old enough to sit in the kayak safely on their own, regardless of paddling, then they must pay and take their own seat.  An adult must go with a child.

Pets  although we are pet friendly, unfortunately on our glass bottom kayaks we do not allow pets, due to scratching of the glass.

What to Wear please wear comfortable clothing as you’ll be sitting in the kayak for two hours.  Wear non slip shoes and a light jacket or sweater in case you get cold or take off in case you get hot from paddling.  If you’re on a Sunset Tour, please remember your sunglasses!

What to Bring please bring a small towel to throw over your lap (sometimes you get wet from paddling), and bring a plastic bottle of water or your favorite beverage.

Driving Directions  Tours offered on Lady Bird Lake.  From downtown Austin, head West on Cesar Chavez towards (MoPac), right before taking the ramp onto MoPac North you will be able to take a slight right turn where you’ll see a small brown faded sign that points you towards Rowing and Kayaking.  Head this direction and take the loop back under Cesar Chavez (make the U-turn heading back into downtown), make your first right onto Stephen F Austin Street. Continue on Stephen F Austin Street until you see a short driveway with a small parking area on your left hand side.  This drive will take you directly down towards the Public Launch Area (you’re going to launch “C”) on Lady Bird Lake.

Tours offered on Lake Travis.  From 620, take Comanche Trail down  about 3 miles (passing the Oasis Restaurant).  We’re at the corner of Comanche Trail and Bob Wentz Park Road.  Please park at our sailing site, so we can shuttle you into the park.
